Utah Tells Feds NO On Guns – Colorado Folds

Utah Tells Feds NO On Guns – Colorado Folds

I love this state, it may be difficult to get an adequate cocktail but by God we get to keep our guns, Unlike another state approximately 400 miles to the east, (a hint: it rhymes with Colorado), their story below the Utah info.

According to the Tenth Amendment Center, In Salt Lake City this morning, the Utah State House of Representatives voted to nullify all federal gun laws, rule, regulations and orders on firearms, firearm accessories and ammunition.

House Bill 114 (HB114), introduced by Representative Brian Greene state, in part:

An officer or employee of the federal government may not enforce or attempt to enforce any federal statute, order, rule, or regulation relating to the intrastate ownership, possession, sale, or transfer of a personal firearm, a firearm accessory, ammunition, or ammunition component.

The bill also states the following:

finds that a federal statute, regulation, rule, or order that has the purpose, intent, or effect of confiscating or banning any firearm, firearm accessory, limiting the capacity of a firearm magazine, imposing any limitation on ammunition or an ammunition component, or requiring the registration of any firearm or ammunition infringes on the right of citizens of Utah to keep and bear arms as protected by the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution and Article I, Section 6 of the Utah Constitution.
effect. The bill will also need the support of all levels of local and state law enforcement in order to be effective.

Now to Colorado:

DENVER –  Colorado Democrats advanced aggressive gun-control proposals after a 12-hour marathon debate Friday in a state wrestling with its history of heartbreaking shootings and Western heritage where gun ownership is treasured by many.

Democrats moved forward with new ammunition magazine limits and universal background checks. But they withdrew two of the most controversial pieces of the package, including a gun ban on college campuses and a measure to hold assault-weapon owners liable for damages caused by their weapons.
A formal Senate vote on the measures is required next week before the bills clear the Senate. Republicans took to Twitter immediately after debate concluded late Friday to urge changed votes by Monday.

Democratic Senate President John Morse claimed victory in the state’s overall gun-control debate, even as he conceded the battle grew ugly.

“Cleansing a sickness from our souls doesn’t come easy. It’s gruesome,” Morse said in a short speech announcing the withdrawal

of his assault-weapon liability measure.

For the last three decades Colorado has been Californicated, glad I be here and not there.

  1. Hey Jeff –

Back in our younger days my wife and I made several visits to Utah to go skiing. In addition, back in 2000 I was offered a job at the University of Utah. Love the state, love the people, love the university, love Salt Lake City. I’m a beer and wine guy – I can take mixed drinks or leave ’em.

(BTW – when I visited the Univ. of Utah I found a little place that sold St. Provo Girl – great beer, although I understand they had a problem with the St. Pauli Girls folks and had to change their name).

“It used to be called St. Provo Girl but we got into hot water with St. Pauli Girl. We got pushed around and had to do a label change, so now it’s Provo Girl.”

In the end, however, I received a better offer from a Texas school. Since I grew up here, I went with the TX offer.

Anyway, as a result of all that, I consider myself an almost-honorary Utahian (or whatever y’all call yourselves). I also spend a few weeks every year in Wyoming, which has a similar outlook as Utah on a number of issues.

Bottom line – I would expect nothing less from your state. Good for you.

As for Colorado, the words of Democratic Senate President John Morse condemn him and his fellow liberal assholes:

“Cleansing a sickness from our souls doesn’t come easy.”

It’s not a sickness, you moron, it’s a Constitutional right. The sickness is people with mental problems who in their warped little minds think that killing people is a solution to their problems. The sickness is also people like you who believe that depriving people of their rights is a solution to society’s problems.

God save us from both categories of idiots…

    1. You are hereby proclaimed an honorary “Utahn” as we call ourselves. The state has it’s quirks of course but I can be skiing one hour and boating at Lake Powell or golfing in St. George three hours later. We don’t have an ocean, but we don’t have humidity either.
You would have made a great Ute.
I have always wanted to move to Texas ever since I saw the Little Texas video “God Bless Texas”. Do all the women look like that down there?
