Thank You Moonbattery
Finally somebody gets it.
“No one will defend Sterling. But no one should have to. What people should defend is his right to say whatever the hell he wants, regardless of whether it is deemed to be correct by the authorities.
Remember when people could voice their opinions in private conversations without the risk of being ripped to pieces by the rabid jackals comprising the media? When people would respond even to the most obnoxious statements by saying, “It’s a free country; you’re free to your opinion” or even, “While I disagree with what you say, I will defend to the death your right to say it”? The First Amendment does give anyone the right to say anything they want. But, that same Amendment says nothing about restricting any consequences that will occur after utterly stupid, ignorant, offensive, and ridiculous comments are made.
The NBA powers-that-be did the right thing in banning and fining Sterling. However, I would like to have seen the Clippers players refuse to play as long as Sterling still owns the team. If they have to forfeit any games because of such a boycott, then so be it. They aren’t that good a team anyway. Kind of like the Chicago Cubs. But, then, their contracts may prohibit such a thing, too. But it would be fun if they could do that.
Scottie – I don’t mind the punishment, I am bothered at HOW the comments were acquired and used in the court of public opinion. Sterling has been a pariah on the NBA for quite some time so I am sure this was just fuel on the fire to get rid of him.
That recording was probably made by the girl friend, but I don’t know. It seems troubling, but maybe we’ll find out in the next few days.
Maybe Sterling failed to contribute, or not enough, to the Ayatollah Obama’s ongoing campaign and, in turn, got the NSA to do their thing. Don’t laugh. With this asshole, anything like that is possible and very likely.
