You’ll notice that “flatten the curve” is no longer a part of the Lexicon o’ Fear. Also, it’s no longer about how many people are actually sick and hospitalized (apparently ventilators are passè these days), but it’s all about “cases” (Read: People who have antibodies for ANY strain of Coronavirus). Those goalposts are going to be worn down to nubs if they keep getting dragged down the street.
This has long passed the stage of “disease control” and is now solely a matter of “control” over the citizenry.
