Masterpiece Cakeshop

“We have shopped here for years. We know this man, we know his Faith.
We know he would never intentionally set out to cause harm to anyone. What the media does NOT say, is vast.
The men concerned in this case had been customers for a while. Had shopped and had purchased many times before. The issue began once Jack Phillips stated he would not specifically create a wedding cake with two men getting married for them, as it goes against his religion and conscience.
He was not rude, he did not tell them they were no longer welcome to shop there.
This will be a landmark case I believe. What’s at stake is much more than meets the eye.
Either way we support this man in his fight.”    here….

  1. I’m curious what ‘The Narrative’ would be if the happy couple had asked a Muslim baker to make them a cake in the likeness of Muhammed?

Would the dilemma be the same; Discrimination v. Religion?

The way I see it, the whole thing boils down to a question of ‘Compelled Creative Expression’. The customers seek to FORCE the baker to utilize his creativity to express an idea he does not agree with.

Religion or no, forced expression is bad ju-ju.
