Utah Tells Feds NO On Guns – Colorado Folds

Utah Tells Feds NO On Guns – Colorado Folds

I love this state, it may be difficult to get an adequate cocktail but by God we get to keep our guns, Unlike another state approximately 400 miles to the east, (a hint: it rhymes with Colorado), their story below the Utah info.

According to the Tenth Amendment Center, In Salt Lake City this morning, the Utah State House of Representatives voted to nullify all federal gun laws, rule, regulations and orders on firearms, firearm accessories and ammunition.

House Bill 114 (HB114), introduced by Representative Brian Greene state, in part:

An officer or employee of the federal government may not enforce or attempt to enforce any federal statute, order, rule, or regulation relating to the intrastate ownership, possession, sale, or transfer of a personal firearm, a firearm accessory, ammunition, or ammunition component.

The bill also states the following:

finds that a federal statute, regulation, rule, or order that has the purpose, intent, or effect of confiscating or banning any firearm, firearm accessory, limiting the capacity of a firearm magazine, imposing any limitation on ammunition or an ammunition component, or requiring the registration of any firearm or ammunition infringes on the right of citizens of Utah to keep and bear arms as protected by the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution and Article I, Section 6 of the Utah Constitution.
effect. The bill will also need the support of all levels of local and state law enforcement in order to be effective.

Now to Colorado:

DENVER –  Colorado Democrats advanced aggressive gun-control proposals after a 12-hour marathon debate Friday in a state wrestling with its history of heartbreaking shootings and Western heritage where gun ownership is treasured by many.

Democrats moved forward with new ammunition magazine limits and universal background checks. But they withdrew two of the most controversial pieces of the package, including a gun ban on college campuses and a measure to hold assault-weapon owners liable for damages caused by their weapons.
A formal Senate vote on the measures is required next week before the bills clear the Senate. Republicans took to Twitter immediately after debate concluded late Friday to urge changed votes by Monday.

Democratic Senate President John Morse claimed victory in the state’s overall gun-control debate, even as he conceded the battle grew ugly.

“Cleansing a sickness from our souls doesn’t come easy. It’s gruesome,” Morse said in a short speech announcing the withdrawal

of his assault-weapon liability measure.

For the last three decades Colorado has been Californicated, glad I be here and not there.

Smart People = Common Sense

Smart People = Common Sense

A Former Judge, Sheriff, NRA Constitutional lawyer (smart people) understand what is going on with gun control, why then do police chiefs in California and Chicago don’t?  Is it blind loyalty to a progressive agenda, or are they just useful idiots, (aka stupid people).

On Wednesday, just a day after Chris Kyle’s burial, the Charlotte Sun Herald ran a political cartoon that took an obvioius jab at Second Amendment advocates’ insistence that “good guys with guns” are the best way to stop crazy shooters. The timing of such commentary was a classless act that disrespected Kyle’s family and all who’ve served their country. Read the rest here:

The slight also appears to be intentional. The cartoon, by Kansas City Star cartoonist Lee Judge, was originally published on Feb. 9 — three days before Kyle’s memorial service.

Here are the their e-mails.
ljudge@kcstar.com. His boss, Miriam Pepper, at mpepper@kcstar.com – let them know what you think. I just did and this is my e-mail.

To: Lee Judge and Miriam Pepper
In regards to your “American Sniper” cartoon:
I hope that you realize the reason you are free to spread your ignorant hate is because of people like Chris Kyle who have secured your 1st amendment rights. So the next time you depict something as mean spirited as that cartoon, please remember that heroes like Chris Kyle were willing to lay down there lives for your freedoms, unlike yourself hiding behind your desk like most liberal cowards. I should not be surprised that a progressive moron would come up with such a disrespectful image.
There a quite a few more things that I would wish upon you but I was raised to respect other peoples feelings….Now Go Fuck Yourself.
ps: Tell your Editor Miriam Pepper I hope her legs grow together.

Sincerely,
Jeff

How To Shut Up Piers Morgan

How To Shut Up Piers Morgan

As mentioned in my last post, Piers Morgan is blowing up CNN with every gun rights person he can find, then takes pleasure looking down his rather snotty nose at them.

My problem is that the gun activists/supporters are allowing this man to dictate the argument which is completely the wrong argument. They should not be engaging Mr. Morgan with why we want military type weapons. The argument should be pointed directly at him.

If any research had been done you could see that Piers Morgan is Jerry Springer with an english accent. One should also point out to Piers Morgan that he was brought up and educated in a country that has long since given up its own freedoms, and they don’t even realize it yet.

Mr. Morgan has NO grasp on what it means to be an American.

He never stood up in class and with his hand on his heart and pledged allegiance to the Stars and Stripes. He never went through atomic bomb drills as an elementary student out of fear of a communist nuclear attack. He never played little league baseball or went to a parade on the Fourth of July. He will never understand what Normandy or Pearl Harbor means to the average American. He did not watch Gunsmoke, Davy Crockett, or any John Wayne movies where good guy defeats bad guy every time. …he was raised on Benny Hill. He does not and never will understand why the kid in the movie “A Christmas Story” would want or need a Red Ryder BB gun.

So I hope the next guest that appears on Piers Morgan to debate assault weapons they remember they can end the argument quickly.
Simply tell him he is not an American and does not know what it means to be an American, therefor and he is not qualified to debate the issue. Then get up, take the mic off, and walk out of the interview.   Priceless.

You Will Be The Criminal

You Will Be The Criminal

You’re sound asleep when you hear a thump outside your bedroom door. Half-awake, and nearly paralyzed with fear, you hear muffled whispers. At least two people have broken into your house and are moving your way. With your heart pumping, you reach down beside your bed and pick up your shotgun.
You rack a shell into the chamber, then inch toward the door and open it…
In the darkness, you make out two shadows. One holds something that looks like a crowbar. When the intruder brandishes it as if to strike, you raise the shotgun and fire. The blast knocks both thugs to the floor. One writhes and screams while the second man crawls to the front door and lurches outside.

As you pick up the telephone to call police, you know you’re in trouble. In your country, most guns were outlawed years before, and the few that are privately owned are so stringently regulated as to make them useless…..Yours was never registered..

Police arrive and inform you that the second burglar has died. They arrest you for First Degree Murder and Illegal Possession of a Firearm. When you talk to your attorney, he tells you not to worry: authorities will probably plea the case down to manslaughter. “What kind of sentence will I get?” you ask. “Only ten-to-twelve years,” he replies, as if that’s nothing. “Behave yourself, and you’ll be out in seven.”

The next day, the shooting is the lead story in the local newspaper. Somehow, you’re portrayed as an eccentric vigilante while the two men you shot are represented as choirboys. Their friends and relatives can’t find an unkind word to say about them…Buried deep down in the article, authorities acknowledge that both “victims” have been arrested numerous times. But the next day’s headline says it all:

“Lovable Rogue Son Didn’t Deserve to Die.” The thieves have been transformed from career criminals into Robin Hood-type pranksters. As the days wear on, the story takes wings. The national media picks it up, then the international media. The surviving burglar has become a folk hero. Your attorney says the thief is preparing to sue you, and he’ll probably win.

The media publishes reports that your home has been burglarized several times in the past and that you’ve been critical of local police for their lack of effort in apprehending the suspects. After the last break-in, you told your neighbor that you would be prepared next time. The District Attorney uses this to allege that you were lying in wait for the burglars.

A few months later, you go to trial. The charges haven’t been reduced, as your lawyer had so confidently predicted. When you take the stand, your anger at the injustice of it all works against you…Prosecutors paint a picture of you as a mean, vengeful man. It doesn’t take long for the jury to convict you of all charges. The judge sentences you to life in prison.

This case really happened.

On August 22, 1999, Tony Martin of Emneth, Norfolk , England , killed one burglar and wounded a second. In April, 2000, he was convicted and is now serving a life term. How did it become a crime to defend one’s own life in the once great British Empire ? It started with the Pistols Act of 1903.

This seemingly reasonable law forbade selling pistols to minors or felons and established that handgun sales were to be made only to those who had a license.

The Firearms Act of 1920 expanded licensing to include not only handguns but all firearms except shotguns. Later laws passed in 1953 and 1967 outlawed the carrying of any weapon by private citizens and mandated the registration of all shotguns.

Momentum for total handgun confiscation began in earnest after the Hungerford mass shooting in 1987. Michael Ryan, a mentally disturbed man with a Kalashnikov rifle, walked down the street shooting everyone he saw. When the smoke cleared, 17 people were dead.
The British public, already de-sensitized by eighty years of “gun control”, demanded even tougher restrictions. (The seizure of all privately owned handguns was the objective even though Ryan used a rifle.)
Nine years later, at Dunblane , Scotland , Thomas Hamilton used a semi-automatic weapon to murder 16 children and a teacher at a public school. For many years, the media had portrayed all gun owners as mentally unstable, or worse, criminals. Now the press had a real kook with which to beat up law-abiding gun owners. Day after day, week after week, the media gave up all pretense of objectivity and demanded a total ban on all handguns. The Dunblane Inquiry, a few months later, sealed the fate of the few sidearm’s still owned by private citizens.
During the years in which the British government incrementally took away most gun rights, the notion that a citizen had the right to armed self-defense came to be seen as vigilantism. Authorities refused to grant gun licenses to people who were threatened,  claiming that self-defense was no longer considered a reason to own a gun.
Citizens who shot burglars or robbers or rapists were charged while the real criminals were released. Indeed, after the Martin shooting, a police spokesman was quoted as saying, “We cannot have people take the law into their own hands.”
All of Tony Martin’s neighbors had been robbed numerous times, and several elderly people were severely injured in beatings by young thugs who had no fear of the consequences. Martin himself, a collector of antiques, had seen most of his collection trashed or stolen by burglars.
When the Dunblane Inquiry ended, citizens who owned handguns were given three months to turn them over to local authorities.
Being good British subjects, most people obeyed the law. The few who didn’t were visited by police
and threatened with ten-year prison sentences if they didn’t comply.
Police later bragged that they’d taken nearly 200,000 handguns from private citizens.

How did the authorities know who had handguns? The guns had been registered and licensed.
Kind of like cars. Sound familiar?

Columbine Father

Columbine Father

Got this in an e-mail this morning. From what I understand this was twelve years after the shooting.

Guess our national leaders didn’t expect this. On Thursday, Darrell Scott, the father of Rachel Scott, a victim of the Columbine High School shootings in Littleton, Colorado, was invited to address the House Judiciary Committee’s subcommittee. What he said to our national leaders during this special session of Congress was painfully truthful.
They were not prepared for what he was to say, nor was it received well. It needs to be heard by every parent, every teacher, every politician, every sociologist, every psychologist, and every so-called expert! These courageous words spoken by Darrell Scott are powerful, penetrating, and deeply personal. There is no doubt that God sent this man as a voice crying in the wilderness.. The following is a portion of the transcript:

“Since the dawn of creation there has been both good & evil in the hearts of men and women. We all contain the seeds of kindness or the seeds of violence. The death of my wonderful daughter, Rachel Joy Scott, and the deaths of that heroic teacher, and the other eleven children who died must not be in vain. Their blood cries out for answers.
“The first recorded act of violence was when Cain slew his brother Abel out in the field. The villain was not the club he used.. Neither was it the NCA, the National Club Association. The true killer was Cain, and the reason for the murder could only be found in Cain’s heart.
“In the days that followed the Columbine tragedy, I was amazed at how quickly fingers began to be pointed at groups such as the NRA. I am not a member of the NRA. I am not a hunter. I do not even own a gun. I am not here to represent or defend the NRA – because I don’t believe that they are responsible for my daughter’s death. Therefore I do not believe that they need to be defended. If I believed they had anything to do with Rachel’s murder I would be their strongest opponent
I am here today to declare that Columbine was not just a tragedy — it was a spiritual event that should be forcing us to look at where the real blame lies! Much of the blame lies here in this room. Much of the blame lies behind the pointing fingers of the accusers themselves. I wrote a poem just four nights ago that expresses my feelings best.

Your laws ignore our deepest needs,
Your words are empty air.
You’ve stripped away our heritage,
You’ve outlawed simple prayer.
Now gunshots fill our classrooms, And precious children die.
You seek for answers everywhere, And ask the question “Why?”
You regulate restrictive laws, Through legislative creed.
And yet you fail to understand, That God is what we need!

“Men and women are three-part beings. We all consist of body, mind, and spirit. When we refuse to acknowledge a third part of our make-up, we create a void that allows evil, prejudice, and hatred to rush in and wreak havoc. Spiritual presences were present within our educational systems for most of our nation’s history. Many of our major colleges began as theological seminaries. This is a historical fact. What has happened to us as a nation? We have refused to honor God, and in so doing, we open the doors to hatred and violence. And when something as terrible as Columbine’s tragedy occurs — politicians immediately look for a scapegoat such as the NRA. They immediately seek to pass more restrictive laws that contribute to erode away our personal and private liberties. We do not need more restrictive laws. Eric and Dylan would not have been stopped by metal detectors. No amount of gun laws can stop someone who spends months planning this type of massacre. The real villain lies within our own hearts.
“As my son Craig lay under that table in the school library and saw his two friends murdered before his very eyes, he did not hesitate to pray in school. I defy any law or politician to deny him that right! I challenge every young person in America , and around the world, to realize that on April 20, 1999, at Columbine High School prayer was brought back to our schools. Do not let the many prayers offered by those students be in vain. Dare to move into the new millennium with a sacred disregard for legislation that violates your God-given right to communicate with Him. To those of you who would point your finger at the NRA — I give to you a sincere challenge.. Dare to examine your own heart before casting the first stone! My daughter’s death will not be in vain! The young people of this country will not allow that to happen!” – Darrell Scott

Directive #4

Directive #4

4. Direct the Attorney General to review categories of individuals prohibited from having a gun to make sure dangerous people are not slipping through the cracks.

So who decides the categories? Eric Holder?

What if you are a blogger that has called out Obama for being a shitty choice for President of the United States. Or perhaps you have spoke up about defending the Second Amendment by not going along with unconstitutional laws. Does that make you a “Dangerous Person” as defined in the open ended directive.
Just sayin.

The Opportunity Of Tragedy

The Opportunity Of Tragedy

I watched Obama lay out his new gun control “actions” today. To any uninformed individual you would think that the directives are a perfectly normal reaction to a horrific tragedy that was Newtown. The ignorant masses will claim “this is our leader at his finest”. A tragedy happens, our dear leader comforts the victims, calmly reflects on a resolution, and then acts on his conclusions. What a great man.

What a bunch of crap. Obama has a blueprint that has placed him in positions of power and he uses it to perfection. That blueprint involves placing his opponents in lose/lose situations. Most rational common sense people understand that any new gun control measure will do little or nothing to stop a madman intent on killing. Yet Obama seizes on the opportunity of tragedy. Same thing he did with Gabby Giffords (remember the pep rally in Tuscon), same thing he did with Hurricane Sandy, and the BP oil spill to name a few “opportunities” for the purpose of pushing his agenda.

This demonizing is very effective and he follows the same routine, hold a press briefing about how terrible the situation is, measure up his opponent’s position, and then go on TV telling the American public his opponent hates old people, dogs, and children. If seniors lose their medicare, it is the republicans fault. If gun control measures are not passed by congress, it is the right-wing extremist who don’t care for the children. If we don’t pass these new environmental regulations, republicans don’t care about the environment, dogs could die. His penchant for blaming Republicans for whatever ills are currently facing the nation is very effective, no matter how transparent.

And when he is saddled with the blame, all we get is crickets. Benghazi? Fast & Furious? Solyndra?  No press briefings now because his finger-pointing is in the mirror. Now you get late friday document dumps, a sick or injured Secretary of State, executive orders shielding an Attorney General. You don’t see him out in front with his fist in the air demanding answers with the urgency he showed on gun control. He cowers in the White House surrounded by attorneys directing him on how best to cover his ass. What a sad man. And what a sad excuse for a President.
