I’m not sure what can be done about school shootings short of arming teachers but a large percentage of them are liberals so they would rather cling to their ideology than worry about the kids, but that’s common with lefties.
There is another way.
If a shooter survives and there is 100% proof he did it, hang him, publicly, within hours of the crime.
Of course if the authorities would have done their jobs they could have stopped this particular shooter.

Hang him . . . yeah, and let the survivors and families of victims do it.
And STOP sensationalizing the friggin shootings nationally. Let the local media handle it for the area or region affected, but for national and international publication just say somethin like this:
“Today an asshole went nuts and shot some people in Florida (or California or Texas or wherever). He was apprehended by authorities and hanged.”
That’s all anybody in Chicago or New York or Boston or Seattle needs to know about people they’ve never met or talked to in a town they’ve never visited or heard of.
Stop making a big friggin deal of it and let it die ignominiously; the hometown press and TV can publish names and times and all for the locals.
Slow hang him. Noose around neck, toss rope over lightpole, and pull slowly.
No quick jerk for the shooter. Let the bastard twitch and flop and evacuate bowels over a long time.
Then use the body as a frackin piñata, points to the person who hits the body so hard the head separates.

Not publishing shooters names will stop some of the allure. Most of the recent mass shooters have cried out in one way or another for help. Give them attention BEFORE they do something extreme. Don’t turn them into the next “famous mass shooter.”
Mental health issues are common with these shooters and many have long term users of psychiatric medications. That’s another red flag that’s ignored in spite of wide-spread reports that long term use can result in violent behavior.

Note how many of the perpetrators had mental disorders. Note how many of the rest were consumed by hate or ideology which are just different types of mental defects.
The left looks at the object. The right tends to just look away. Almost no one is looking at the problem.
Movie: In Cold Blood 1967 by Truman Capote:2 men went to a farm and killed an entire family because the safe was empty, were caught and went to trial at the end of the trial they took the 2 men down to the court house basement and hung them right then, no retrial, no BS.
What’s the point: too often the guilty are portrayed as the victim and those that have died at the hand of the guilty person(s) are left without justice. The left complain about guns yet never is there on the news all the people who have carry permits and do carry that have protected people from others wanting to do harm. All the news reports is gun control, gotta have it NOW, makes no sense when more people with carry permits have protected than those that have killed. I’ve said this many times: NEVER EVER give up the right to protect ones self and others, in doing so only allows the very people who should not have weapons get weapons and terrorize society with them.

Use the tried and true Chinese method.
Catch the shooter. And within an hour stand him or her up against a whitewashed wall. Fire up every camera of every MSM TV news network and put a 9mm round into his or her cranium for all the country to see.
I am assuming most of the commenters are new to this country. Here in 21st Century America (and for the past 50 years), the standard “cop out” is NOT GUILTY BY REASON OF INSANITY”. The ACLU has bus loads of lawyers on their way to Florida to make sure that this poor deprived (I say depraved) individual does not get a speedy trial, and when he does finally show his moronic face in a court room, it will be simply to hear some liberal judge sentence him to a few months in a mental health facility where he can be properly assessed by scores of Psychiatrists who prove daily that “It takes one to catch one” when it comes to the mentally defective.
