I watched every episode back in the day. I can still see Chester limping down the dirt main street yelling: “Mister Dillon, Mister Dillon”. Miss Kitty was beautiful. Not like today’s bimbos, but she was just pure 1950’s pretty.
Yep, watched this as well but one that was never missed was “The FBI” with Efrem Zimbalist Jr. Heaven forbid you spoke when that show was on. Not many remember this show.
I love Gunsmoke. Watch it every chance I get. An incredibly well-written show. And one that the writers understood well. You’ll find episodes where Matt, Kitty, Doc, Festus and Chester are in the background, focusing on folks we’re just being introduced to. THAT shows how much confidence the writers had in their characters. Not every story had to be about the main characters. And they also tackled some timely and timeless topics. Rape, murder, racism, being falsely accused, lost love, young love, corruption to name a few.

They’re running in syndication on the ‘freeish’ digital airwaves now.
Along with Gilligan’s Islands and a ton of other old shows. “Hey remember when Hollywood wasn’t shouting how much they hated us from the rooftops?”
My Grandfather watched Gunsmoke every week and God help ya if you interrupted him while he was watching it.

How’s about Highway Patrol with Broderick Crawford. I watched all those episodes as a high school student.
