The university’s administration issued a statement prior to today’s vote calling the decision to ban flags “misguided” and urging a veto.
“The views of a handful of students passing a resolution do not represent the opinions of the nearly 30,000 students on this campus, and have no influence on the policies and practices of the university,” the statement read.
I think it is getting close. That point in time where revolution is no longer a notion for future generations but a reality to be faced in the next few years not decades. Removing the American Flag where I come from is grounds for an ass kickin’.
The Associated Students of University of California, Irvine (ASUCI) voted Tuesday to remove all flags, including American flags, from an inclusive space on campus because of their offensive nature.
The bill, R50-70, was authored by Social Ecology Representative Matthew Guevara, and accuses all flags, especially, the American flag, of being “symbols of patriotism or weapons for nationalism.”
“[F]lags construct paradigms of conformity and sets [sic] homogenized standards for others to obtain which in this country typically are idolized as freedom, equality, and democracy,” the bill reads.
The legislation argues that flags may be interpreted differently; the American flag, for example, can represent “American exceptionalism and superiority,” as well as oppression.

Guess I’ll just sit back and prepare for the madness I assumed would pass me by. Voting certainly has done this country no favors.

I am surprised a civil war hasn’t already broken out; of course when the EBT cards get shut down you’ll see mass riots in the streets.
Exile – If EBT cards get shut down, I would not want to live anywhere near a large urban area, everybody will be fair game.
Hence why I live no where near a major city.
I was reading how the idiot who brought this forward did so at the urging of the illegal immigrant students.
When things go south someone needs to hunt down this Matthew Guevara and his cohorts in communism and ELIMINATE THEM. If we are going to clean house we need to get the little cockroaches like this as much as the big rats in DC.
