From what I hear the alumni are up in arms about this. Unfortunately, now that they are tied to the “Hyper Liberal” PAC 12, I can see them caving to the pressure. This hag is why academia is failing miserably…..teach…..don’t bitch!

The University of Utah (U of U) is “seriously” considering changing its 110-year-old fight song over concerns that the title “Utah Man” is sexist and the phrase “our coeds are the fairest” is racist.

The school’s student government voted unanimously to change the song in March, and the proposal will go before the school’s diversity committee and the academic senate before being sent to the board of trustees for a vote.

One of the recommended changes is to change “Utah Man” to “Utah Fan.”

Professor Joanna Yaffe said she sees not only sexism in the song but also racism — explaining that a line which states that the school’s “coeds are the fairest” could be interpreted as a reference to skin color.

“I don’t think I’m being hyper-PC, I’m just thinking about not really being included in the song,” Yaffe, an adjunct professor of psychiatry, said in an interview with The Salt Lake Tribune.

Cummings is a scumbag politician just like all of the democrats and especially the black caucus dems. He is on the oversight committee that grilled True the Vote founder Catherine Engelbrecht and called her a liar and a racist. If it is true that Cummings is the person in who contacted the IRS about delaying their 504c, he should be removed from the committee at once, and criminal charges should be forthcoming.

House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrell Issa, R-Calif., has accused the panel’s top Democrat of prompting the Internal Revenue Service in 2012 to target a conservative organization applying for nonprofit status. Issa said records obtained last week from the IRS show communications from the office of ranking member Rep. Elijah Cummings, D-Md., about True the Vote, a Texas-based, nonprofit conservative group that aims to prevent voter fraud.

The communications at one point involved Lois Lerner, the ex-IRS official who Issa’s panel is poised to hold in contempt of Congress on Thursday for refusing to provide testimony about her involvement in targeting conservative groups. “The IRS and the Oversight Minority made numerous requests for virtually identical information from True the Vote, raising concerns that the IRS improperly shared protected taxpayer information with Rep. Cummings’ staff,” a statement from the Oversight panel reads.

Issa said Cummings and his office asked for more information in January 2013 about True the Vote, this time getting Lerner involved. At one point, an email revealed, Lerner asked her deputy, “Did we find anything?” When the deputy said she had not received any new information, Lerner responded, “thanks – check tomorrow please.”

Issa said Cummings had previously denied asking the IRS about True the Vote.

Scary to think that this could end very badly for the rancher, with the desert tortoise is being terrorized by these viscous cattle, you can see why the feds could be a bit trigger happy. And my personal opinion is, he was there first and the turtles will survive.

Armed federal agents deployed last week to northeast Clark County, Nev., for what can only be described as a major escalation in a decades-long standoff between a local cattle rancher and the U.S. government.

Cliven Bundy, the last remaining rancher in the southern Nevada county, stands in defiance of a 2013 court order demanding that he remove his cattle from public land managed by the U.S. Department of the Interior’s Bureau of Land Management.

The 67-year-old veteran rancher, who has compared the situation to similar confrontations with government officials in Ruby Ridge and Waco, Texas, told TheBlaze that his family has used land in the 600,000-acre Gold Butte area since the late 1800s.

“I have raised cattle on that land, which is public land for the people of Clark County, all my life. Why I raise cattle there and why I can raise cattle there is because I have preemptive rights,” he said, explaining that among them is the right to forage.

“Who is the trespasser here? Who is the trespasser on this land? Is the United States trespassing on Clark County, Nevada, land? Or is it Cliven Bundy who is trespassing on Clark County, Nevada, land? Who’s the trespasser?”

“Cattle have been in trespass on public lands in southern Nevada for more than two decades. This is unfair to the thousands of other ranchers who graze livestock in compliance with federal laws and regulations throughout the West,” the Bureau of Land Management stated on its website about the case.

“The Bureau of Land Management and the National Park Service have made repeated attempts to resolve this matter administratively and judicially. An impoundment of cattle illegally grazing on public lands is now being conducted as a last resort,” it added. Federal employees and contractors have so far impounded approximately 234 of Bundy’s estimated 900 “trespass cattle.”

The Bureau of Land Management has “overstepped its boundaries by not letting me access my rights, not recognizing state’s sovereignty, and having over 200 armed officers watching our every move and stealing our cattle,” Bundy said.

The rancher’s wife, Carol, said there now appear to be snipers stationed around the family’s 150-acre ranch. Asked about the Bundys’ sniper claim, Cannon would neither confirm nor deny the allegation.

The worst thing about this story is the information could only have been leaked by the IRS.

Congress works about 4 months per year if you compare it with the normal 40 hour work week of us worker drones, they don’t get anything done substantially but argue with the opposing party, fund raise for their next re-election, enjoy lavish dinners with CEO’s and lobbyist, and generally suck up taxpayer funds for whatever pork they can get away with. And if you count the benefits, staff, and housing paid for by their respective states, they want for nothing. Yet this man wants a raise.

That statement alone should tell you all you need to know. The arrogance of an individual thinking government is the CEO over the economy, hell they can’t run a lemon aid stand let alone the country.

To the average American high school student a higher education is a lofty goal, even though a third of them drop out, getting that diploma will offer happiness and success. But what happens when Billy and Suzy don’t have the appropriate grey matter to grasp college curriculum?

The art of dumbing down something as complicated as a university is a tricky one. If you dumb down the engineering program you get falling bridges and dead people. If you dumb down political science, well you just get more NDP voters. The thing that politicians and the university presidents failed to grasp is that while creating more NDP voters is not a good thing in the short-run, it’s a disastrous thing in the long run. There is nothing more dangerous to the future of a society than half-educated liberal arts majors.

What do many journalists study before going to journalism school? It’s the liberal arts broadly defined. In the modern sense the liberal arts is no longer just the traditional subjects of History, Philosophy and Literature (English). It has expanded to include quasi-pseudo-subjects like political science, pseudo-subjects like semiotics and making shit up stuff like gender studies. When people complain that liberal arts gets you a job as a barista, they’re more often referring to the gender studies major than the history major.
