Update: Video calling for riots – “F**k Protesting…lets start a riot”

Nice, that should simmer the hate.

This Trayvon Martin-Zimmerman thing is about to boil over. From everything that has come out, Zimmerman has a good chance at being acquitted of any charges because of the Stand Your Ground law. I am sure justice will prevail, one way or the other.

The issue is, the class warfare, poor vs rich, black vs white divide is going to cause another LA Riot scenario, only worse.

The 1992 Los Angeles Riots or South Central Riots, were sparked on April 29, 1992, when a jury acquitted three white and one Hispanic Los Angeles Police Department officers accused in the videotaped beating of black motorist Rodney King following a high-speed pursuit. Thousands of people in the Los Angeles area rioted over the six days following the verdict. Widespread looting, assault, arson and murder occurred, and property damages topped roughly $1 billion. In all, 53 people died during the riots and thousands more were injured.

If it does not happen sooner rather than later, if Zimmerman is found innocent, all hell is going to break loose not only in Florida, but across the country. In 1992 the only communication was cell phone and television, no social media as it stands today. Can you imagine what is going to happen 20 years later with Facebook, Twitter, texting, emails, blogs, you name it. It will get ugly.

This is what Chief of Police Daryl Gates had to say about Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton, sounds familiar don’t you think?

Q: Do you believe, in retrospect–and putting yourself back at that moment–that there were forces interested in exploiting that tape, that moment–forces that had an ax to grind with the L.A.P.D.?

A: I don’t think there is any question about it. It was a great opportunity, a great opportunity. They had the Reverend Jesse Jackson coming out here every week. He didn’t even know me, and he stood up and denounced me, over and over again. He knew nothing about me, knew nothing about the policies of the Los Angeles Police Department or what we had done in all communities throughout the city–our community relations, our community efforts. He knew none of this. He just blasted Daryl Gates and the Los Angeles Police Department. Al Sharpton came out. He knew nothing about the Los Angeles Police Department, knew nothing about me. These people. . . filled the atmosphere with hate: hate, hate, hate… and this is a political thing, pure politics.”

So be prepared, know where you can travel and keep your head on a swivel. That is all.

  1. Yeah, it was nuts out here.
The cops were nowhere to be found, the National Guard took days to get here, and you were totally on your own. My Korean friends still talk about it. And if you think they took care of their own back then, they’re a lot more “ready” these days.

    1. Good for them, they may need it. I was a little bit east of all of the chaos but watched with shock and disdain, especially after the Denny kid got pulled from his truck and beat to within an inch of his life. Sad days indeed.
