Keep It Up

Keep It Up

I haven’t mentioned much about the NFL players acting like a bunch of immature spoiled brats because I didn’t think much of it, it’s happened before by an NBA player, Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf (born Chris Wayne Jackson on March 9, 1969).

Abdul-Rauf is perhaps best known for the controversy created when he refused to stand for “The Star-Spangled Banner” before games, stating that the flag was a symbol of oppression and that the United States had a long history of tyranny. He said that standing to the national anthem would, therefore, conflict with his Islamic beliefs. On March 12, 1996, the NBA suspended Abdul-Rauf for his refusal to stand, costing Abdul-Rauf $31,707 per missed game.

That was 1996 and nothing much came of it, fast forward to 2016 and the Kaepernick stunt. Kap is available as a free agent to play for any team that will have him, problem is, nobody wants him. This is a self inflicted wound, he didn’t only disrespect the flag, he wore socks depicting cops as pigs and wore a Che Guevara shirt for a press interview. I assumed this would all go away much like it did for Abdul-Rauf but I was wrong.

Here is a link to a list of NFL players who have followed the Kaepernick fiasco. Add to that list college and high school kids and now we hear an entire youth football team, led by their coach kneeling during the anthem. The coach should be fired, not for his beliefs, but for using his 8 year old players as pawns. He has the constitutional right to be a douche bag….the kids don’t know any better. promo330044227

Thanks to the perpetually oppressed and one Barack Obama this kind of thing isn’t going away, but there is a risk to all the activism. You’re pissing off whitey.

NFL ratings are down again this season and they can’t blame it on the election. The pundits are coming up with insane reasons for the free fall but they are missing the big picture, fans, particularity football fans don’t like being lectured on social justice issues while watching a game, they don’t like it while watching highlights, they don’t like it when ESPN’s hosts are liberal social justice warriors.

These players make millions of dollars to play a game, they are a very small group of individuals lucky enough and talented enough to do it, the majority of people who watch the games are white middle class who work hard for their money and take exception when a millionaire athlete turns his back on something they find sacred, their countries flag.

All I can say to theses pampered athletes, media, activists, and knucklehead pee wee football coaches…..keep it up….keep it up at your own peril. People are turning off the games because of these asinine protests and the NFL has to start paying back networks for failed viewership. Once the league starts losing money the owners start losing money, when the owners start losing money the players start losing money. The league and owners may need to think hard and fast about a player policy that shuts this shit down, the players have the right to do what they are doing, the owners have the right to let them know there are consequences.

Fans are tuning out and parents have their kids playing other sports. Between the concussion problems and activists using the league as a platform for whatever perceived injustice they can conjure up they are effectively killing the golden goose. It won’t be this year or next, but if the trend continues the NFL will end up just another sport that the only people who watch it are die hard fans watching a watered down sport that the majority of Americans really don’t care about.

Like I said….keep it up.

  1. “fans … don’t like being lectured on social justice issues”

For that very reason, I have stopped watching ESPN, except for actual sporting events. Even then I’m quick with the mute/channel change button.

I also watch much less NFL than I did last year, primarily because of spoiled brat millionaires spitting on my values. If they want true equality then the league should consist of 60% white players, 15% blacks, 15% hispanics, and the remaining 10% asian, native American, eskimo, whatever…

As for that youth league coach, fuck him and the horse he rode in on.

  2. I do not watch any sports except maybe a little pro golf when there’s nothing else on the tube. I don’t think the PGA folks play the anthem before the pros T-off starts and the sport is composed of mostly polite, young white males since the African-Asian-American Tiger Woods slipped down the ratings ladder to about 1,200th. Unlike the 75% black about as real as professional wrestling crap game called football.

  3. If it’s so bad in America they can always move to any of the great countries in Africa. The best place in the world for blacks is America and all they do is complain.

  4. I too object to the virtue signaling during a sporting event, and want to point out that it’s being done on someone else’s dime. The air time those players take when they upstage the game or speak out in interviews does not belong to them. It belongs to the producers, directors, league, team, and ultimately the FANS who are paying for the whole thing. They are free to peddle their outrage somewhere else. But then they would have no audience.
