Here We Go Again
Just as “W” predicted if we surrendered the gains made in Iraq, we would be headed back.
WASHINGTON, Dec 1 (Reuters) – The United States said on Tuesday it was deploying a new force of special operations troops to Iraq to conduct raids against Islamic State there and in neighboring Syria, a ratcheting up of Washington’s campaign against the group that was quickly rejected by Iraq’s government.
I don’t know what you call it, sounds like boots on the ground in Iraq to me…..and the groups that have filled the power void are vowing to fight U.S. troops trying to help. Nice job Obama.
Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi said the deployment of such a force was not acceptable without Iraq’s approval, raising questions over how closely Washington coordinated the plan with Baghdad. Powerful Shi’ite Muslim armed groups pledged to fight any new deployment of U.S. forces to the country.
So they don’t want U.S. troops in country, I would imagine the troops themselves aren’t thrilled about it either.
Here’s a thought, lets solve the jihad problem for good.

Exile – I use the nuke metaphor in jest, but it certainly would get their attention, and probably hasten an attack on the US.
I thought we figured this out in Nam. Go in to win, or stay out. All that incrementalism accomplishes is to get good people killed in small groups.
CTT – They never learn. The bad guys have been at it for 1400 years, you would think we have an idea of what they are about.

When we were in VietNam, that war was micro-micro-managed by those two great military strategists, LBJ and his asshole buddy, Robert McNamara, to the point that we lost some 58,000 men and women, and lost the war. Now, should we get into another war in the next year, that one would be micro-managed by today’s great military strategist and community “organizer”, one Mullah Obama and his asshole buddy, John Kerry-Heinz (or is it Heinz-Kerry?). That would all but guarantee that the U.S. would be whupped and the U.S. would be overrun with ISIS neanderthals. As long as Mullah Obama is infesting the White House, the U.S. is well and truly fucked.
I have more faith in our military. The military in Vietnam indeed was fucked over, in more ways than one, but one thing we have going for us now is that we have the best, most well equipped, most well-trained, all volunteer military in the world. I am not sure if that last part is the deciding factor or not but it just might be.
You also have to remember that this country is full of people who have drawn a line in the sand and who own weapons and might not just lay down to the ISIS j.v. squad when they start to play for real, not just practice.
Only time will tell, but I hope things don’t come to that, however, I have seen much for a young guy of 55, and I expect things to get worse before they get better. I do think they will get better eventually. This is the United States of America, and we will prevail.
