Dear Madam,
I have been shown in the files of the War Department a statement of the Adjutant General of Massachusetts that you are the mother of five sons who have died gloriously on the field of battle. I feel how weak and fruitless must be any word of mine which should attempt to beguile you from the grief of a loss so overwhelming. But I cannot refrain from tendering you the consolation that may be found in the thanks of the Republic they died to save. I pray that our Heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of freedom.

I have seen the boy on Omaha Beach before and it is quite compelling. Abraham Lincoln’s words to the grieving mother are something I will never forget. I salute all of our Veterans, past, present and future. God Bless them all.
Madjack – If we can get a few million kids like this one we may have something.
I still wear the uniform 17 years and counting and I have to say men much better than myself took that beach and a boy, also much better than myself, took the time to honor them. I cried so hard watching this video. He was raised right and my pride swelled but my tears fell for what we as a nation have lost and what is continuing it’s flush down the drain. Thank you for posting this and be assured when “it” happens, which will be sooner than most think, we in uniform still will abide by our oath and obligation to the Constitution and thereby the people of the States that comprise the USA!
