If I had the money, it would really be fun to do this. I would investigate a bit, though. It would suck if she had an abusive, addicted boyfriend that stole most of the money she made.
One must wonder if her manager would force her to put that cash into the “tip pool” to be divided equally among all the employees…..after the manager skims a huge chunk off the top. Pooling tips is a common practice…and forcing staff to pool their tips is also common.
DON”T TIP THE WAIT STAFF!! If your server was special, GIFT them the money. Tips are taxed, shared (or not). Gifts are NOT taxed! Your server is free to share if they want to. You may need to explain, to them, the difference and why. I’ve made more than 1 server happily surprised.
I write down “CASH” in the ‘tip’ column of my receipt, and leave some money on the table for the wait staff and busser.
If you run the ‘tip’ through your credit card receipt, the server will have to pay income tax on that tip, because anything w/ a paper-trail gets reported. Tip in CASH, and it’s like it never happened.
Tipping the cooks and bustaff 10% out of your tips is standard, and IMHO a good thing. If the manager told me I was to.pool my tips, I would tell them to get bent. Tips are personal, I generally try to leave 20% or better, but I have done the $.02 thing once or twice due to poor service. If the food comes out fresh and hot, but takes to long, I don’t hold that against the server, that’s the kitchens fault. The manager gets an earful, not the server. What really burns me is takes on tips. Tips are a gift, for good service, not to supplement crap wages. That is a different beef!
I don’t believe videos like this. Call me a curmudgeon, I don’t care. It was planned. Pre-planned, went to the bank, got a stack of crisp bills, found a restaurant, got his buddy to sit across from him and film the whole thing start to finish, EDIT said film, then post to social media.
You’re a fucking shill looking for clicks you piece of shit. Genuine charity comes from the heart, you don’t do it when people are watching, or worse – filming! Like all those gas-station prank videos, like anyone really stands there counting out change on their car hood while at the pump…

How do you make the money into a gift to the person serving you? People want to know.

This made me smile.
Kamaltoe may be knocking soon. Very nice gesture though.
