The ethanol stuff is bull crap. We do not put our food into our fuel tanks. We pay farmers to grow food stuffs and not “biofuels”. That farmer just doesn’t want his personal cash cow to get the knife.
That guy was far from converted and said so at least 3 times.
It also informed my view of Cruz’s “bold anti-ethanol stand”. I was initially hopeful that someone was truly open to going against the corn lobby; however, 1 minute of watching and listening to his answer tells me he’s just like the others. If it takes him that long to explain it, then it is not a bold stand. Instead of abolishing, it is more tweaking the regulations. Ho hum, thanks for playing. Next.
Rabbit – At least he stood there and talked to the man, did not sway from his stance against stopping the subsidies, and offered his plan no matter how weak you think his argument was. I don’t know that Trump would have taken the time, but I could be wrong.
Yes he did speak politely with a slightly rude guy and eventually got to addressing the question posed. The answer was underwhelming but perhaps bolder than anyone else. Trump said corn gas is good stuff. Ah the choices..
That farmer is a schmuck, screw him. Corn ethanol for fuel is economically and energy inefficient. If it wasn’t it wouldn’t’ take subsidies to make it profitable. As long as the ethanol system is subsidized, it won’t get any better because it has no incentive to improve. That farmer can act like he is the salt of the earth, but he’s just a welfare bum. He’s getting paid for corn, a lot more than its worth, because the government thinks it should be burnt in my engine rather than turned into food.
