Legally Prescribed Welfare System

Legally Prescribed Welfare System

Hopes have been shot to hell of ever being able to afford regular health insurance, health reforms will never fix the mess the government has created.

“Likewise, requiring insurers to cover a wide range of conditions against which some subscribers do not wish to insure – indeed, against certain contingencies that cannot apply to them in any event (e.g., costs associated with pregnancy for male subscribers) – turns the insurance system into a complex system of overcharges and cross-subsidies, that is, turns the system into a legally prescribed welfare system rather than an insurance system.

Stop Calling It ‘Insurance’

Legislators will be reluctant to buck continued subsidies and privileges no matter how irrational these interventionist distortions are.

The federal government and the state governments have intervened haphazardly in the health-care insurance business so pervasively and for so long that by now the whole setup is nothing but a gigantic mess that flies in the face of the insurance principle and dictates a host of requirements that make no sense except as answers to the prayers of special-interest groups and rent seekers.

Once a net benefit has been created, however, each beneficiary group will scream to the heavens if reforms should threaten to remove its privilege, and legislators will be reluctant to buck such organized political insistence on continued subsidies and privileges no matter how irrational these interventionist distortions are as components of an insurance system.”   here.…via Maggies Farm

Busy, Busy, Busy

Busy, Busy, Busy

Got back from my little golf junket on Monday and all hell broke loose. Sorry for the slow posts.

This world is full of idiots and assholes and I have had my fill of both for the last few days….at least I have my health….my sanity is another story.

Societies Structural Breakdown

Societies Structural Breakdown

You can’t pick up an old (any) woman and body slam her. You can’t drag an old woman across the ground and throw her into a pool.

Societies moral compass just doesn’t allow for it…..oh wait…..it’s OK….their just misguided youth oppressed by the system.

I weep for this country.

They don’t want to be called thugs or worse yet their actions offer only one avenue of judgement.

Headed South

Headed South

Taking some time off to get some golf/gambling in so I won’t be posting until next Monday. We wanted to chase some warm weather because it has been such a chilly spring around these parts, I should be careful what I wish for. We will be going from high 50’s low 60’s to mid 90’s up to 101 Friday, yikes!tempOn a separate note. This little blog hit 2 million views last night. When I started blogging it was an effort to make extra money, I did the whole google ad crap and tried a couple of other things to get traffic to no avail.

A funny thing happened over the last five years, I found a way to voice my opinion and the money angle to the blog wasn’t that important. My writing skills have much to be desired yet I felt better every time I cleared my mind by expressing my feelings through this medium.

Compared to other sites two million is minuscule, but for me I’m quite pleased.

Thanks to all of you for stopping by my little corner of the world….be back Monday.

Ladies And Gentlemen…..The Pretenders

Ladies And Gentlemen…..The Pretenders

The GOP Establishment just emerged from a presidential primary in which Donald Trump bulldozed a huge field of top-shelf Republican contenders, in no small part because the public was furious with Republican inability to make progress on a conservative agenda despite holding both House and Senate. They seem to have learned nothing from the experience.    Here… and Here…

Just a few thoughts on this second round series featuring the Warriors and Jazz.

First off, I’m from Utah. I’ve followed the Jazz ever since they moved from New Orleans. I’ve seen the bad times to the good times and back to the bad times, I’m not a fanatic just a fan and I don’t give the Jazz much of a chance in this series. That being said I have a few complaints.

Last night ESPNSJW had a quick preview of the series. They joked about Salt Lake City having “zero” night life, they lamented the only way to have fun is to go to Vegas in between games, they even had a graphic showing a twelve hour trip to Vegas from Salt Lake and the cost to lease a car to get there. Well, it takes five hours to get to Vegas from Salt Lake, I have taken that trip more times than I can count, it never varies unless there’s weather.32770F9F00000578-3504209-Jovial_President_Obama_was_clearly_enjoying_the_historic_basebal-a-27_1458678352880

The arrogant asses at ESPN just threw out a number because in their minds who cares, it’s Utah, whose gonna fact check. Sound familiar?

Next, the Golden State players have jumped on the Salt Lake City bash fest. Steph Curry say’s in his snide way he will go snowboarding, forward Matt Barnes said “there’s no nightlife in Utah.” Forward Andre Iguodala said being in Utah “can kind of lull you to sleep” and the SLC vibe is “just like, ‘Man let’s just get out of here.'”stephen-curry-barack-obama-558x330

I don’t get the insults about the city, plenty of places to party in Salt Lake but that’s not the point. This is the Golden Boys from California against the upstart team from Utah. West coast against fly over country, hip millionaires that do commercials and endorsements versus buttoned down wannabes from Mormon country. High life versus family life. New York versus Indiana. It’s kind of a microcosm of the current divide in the country.

Personally I could care less about what the opposing players think. When Utah sent the Clippers packing in game seven Sunday night I was amused noting that Jay Z and Beyonce were on the front row. They had to do the walk of shame out of the arena because the other Golden Boys from LA La Land were just dismissed from the playoffs. If I get nothing more out of this years Utah team that image was enough for me.nyc_obama_jay_z_beyonce

Golden State has built a wonderful team and they’re fun to watch, I can say that with indifference to the Oakland-San Francisco area, I have no reason to go there, never have. I would imagine that Golden State players would trade their state tax liabilities, property taxes, and cost of living for Utahs, but I digress.

I will enjoy the series whether it’s a sweep or Utah wins a few games. I give Utah little to no chance of actually winning the series, and that’s OK. I still have a wonderful place to live regardless of the weird liquor laws and California will still be California, my life won’t change because of a few basketball games.

ps: I’ll be watching a couple of the games from a casino in Nevada, because it’s just a few hours away from Utah with golf three days in a row in St. George and Mesquite. Suck it California.060331_travel_golf_hmed3p.grid-6x2
