How did all of us old people ever get through school? 
 
HIGH SCHOOL — 1957 vs. 2011
Scenario 1:
Jack goes pheasant hunting before school and then pulls into the school parking lot with his shotgun in his truck’s gun rack..
1957 – Vice Principal comes over, looks at Jack’s shotgun, goes to his car and gets his shotgun to show Jack.
2011 – School goes into lock down, FBI called, Jack hauled off to jail and never sees his truck or gun again. Counselors called in for traumatized students and teachers.
 
Scenario 2:
Johnny and Mark get into a fist fight after school.
1957 – Crowd gathers. Mark wins. Johnny and Mark shake hands and end up buddies.
2011 – Police called and SWAT team arrives — they arrest both Johnny and Mark. They are both charged with assault and both expelled even though Johnny started it.
 
Scenario 3:
Jeffrey will not be still in class, he disrupts other students.
1957 – Jeffrey sent to the Principal’s office and given a good paddling by the Principal. He then returns to class, sits still and does not disrupt class again.
2011 – Jeffrey is given huge doses of Ritalin. He becomes a zombie. He is then tested for ADD. The family gets extra money (SSI) from the government because Jeffrey has a disability.
Scenario 4:
Billy breaks a window in his neighbor’s car and his Dad gives him a whipping with his belt.
1957 – Billy is more careful next time, grows up normal, goes to college and becomes a successful businessman..
2011 – Billy’s dad is arrested for child abuse, Billy is removed to foster care and joins a gang. The state psychologist is told by Billy’s sister that she remembers being abused herself and their dad goes to prison. Billy’s mom has an affairwith the psychologist.
 
Scenario 5:
Mark gets a headache and takes some aspirin to school.
1957 – Mark shares his aspirin with the Principal out on the smoking dock..
2011 – The police are called and Mark is expelled from school for drug violations. His car is then searched for drugs and weapons.
 
Scenario 6:
Pedro fails high school English.
1957 – Pedro goes to summer school, passes English and goes to college.
2011 – Pedro’s cause is taken up by state. Newspaper articles appear nationally explaining that teaching English as a requirement for graduation is racist. ACLU files class action lawsuit against the state school system and Pedro’s English teacher. English is then banned from core curriculum.. Pedro is given his diploma anyway but ends up mowing lawns for a living because he cannot speak English.
 
Scenario 7:
Johnny takes apart leftover firecrackers from the Fourth of July, puts them in a model airplane paint bottle and blows up a red ant bed.
1957 – Ants die..
2011 – ATF, Homeland Security and the FBI are all called. Johnny is charged with domestic terrorism. The FBI investigates his parents – and all siblings are removed from their home and all computers are confiscated. Johnny’s dad is placed on a terror watch list and is never allowed to fly again.
 
Scenario 8:
Johnny falls while running during recess and scrapes his knee. He is found crying by his teacher, Mary. Mary hugs him to comfort him.
1957 – In a short time, Johnny feels better and goes on playing.
2011 – Mary is accused of being a sexual predator and loses her job. She faces 3 years in State Prison. Johnny undergoes 5 years of therapy.

If, in my youth, I was large enough, fast enough, and strong enough, I would have loved to play professional football. The money, ladies, and retirement at forty or so, what’s not to love?

I assume all of these players new the risks involved with the game, and they took those risks. Correct me if I am wrong, but this seems like a play for the lawyers and a little cash for the players. Please, tell me if I am seeing this wrong. Tell me that I am ignorant to the plight of the players, because right now, I don’t see it.

Mr. Rypien is the lead plaintiff in a mass-tort lawsuit filed Friday in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. Taking part in the lawsuit are 126 former players, including 14 other ex-Redskins, as well as Tony Mandarich and Todd Marinovich.

The lawsuit alleges that the NFL was aware of the risks of repetitive traumatic brain injury but hid the information and misled players, resulting in permanent brain damage or neurological disorders.

“It’s scary the extent to which these guys have been hurt,” said Gene Locks, the plaintiffs’ lead attorney. “When we played football, broken bones, busted noses, tears of tissue were kind of expected. Nobody said you’d get a head injury. These injuries are insidious, they are latent, degenerative, and it gets worse and worse as you get older in certain players.”

According to the lawsuit, Mr. Rypien “suffers from various neurological conditions and symptoms related to the multiple head traumas.”

Remember back in December when Obama was blathering about the 40 dollars a week the republicans are prying away from the middle class if they did not pass the payroll tax cut? (Republicans wanted to pass the tax cut but democrats had an unemployment extension added in the package.)

Let’s assume you fill your tank once a week and the tank holds 30 gallons. The price of gas per gallon during that time was $3.30, it is now $4.70 per gallon depending where you live. So Obama’s payroll tax cut is wiped out by his disregard for gas prices, and we still get the unemployment extensions added to the national debt. HOW DID THAT FEEL?

4.70-3.30=1.40
1.40×30=$42.00

In 1796 George Washington, after serving for forty-five years of service to the nation, had firmly decided there would be no third term. The tired patriot would not live three years after he left the presidency. Thomas Jefferson wanted him to run for a third term because the separation of the newly formed Federalist Party and the Democrat-Republican Party and the state of foreign affairs, at the time, threatened to tear the new republic apart. In his farewell address, Alexander Hamilton helped him draft the first version, but the final words were his and his alone.

The farewell address was in the form of an open letter to every citizen and came from the deepest regions of his heart.

 

     “Let me…warn you in the most solemn manner,” he wrote, “against the baneful affects of the Spirit of Party, generally. This spirit, unfortunately, is inseparable from our nature having it’s root in the strongest passions of the human mind. It exists under different shapes in all governments….and is truly our worst enemy.”

     “The alternate dominance of one faction over another, sharpened by the spirit of revenge, natural to party dissension…is in itself a frightful despotism”

     “There is an opinion, that the parties in free countries are useful checks upon the Administration of the Government…This within certain limits is probably true-and in Governments of a Monarchical cast, Patriotism may look with indulgence…upon the spirit of party. He may be surprised at the division between the two parties now, but at least he could say that he did warn us.

….going on with my sidebar. Don’t know why there is a tracker by the blogroll sites, some items are missing, you name it I got issues. The post’s seem to be fine so ignore whatever shows up on the sidebar untill I get it fixed.

On his trip to South Korea, Barack Obama has “Air Force One” above his patch on the leather coat he is wearing. He also has a name tag on that says “Barack Obama-Commander In Chief”.

Really? Do you think the majority of the world does not know who he is? Don’t you think that having an army of secret service men around him would be a clue? How about the big presidential seal on the coat? I personally think the guy has an inferiority complex and at every opportunity he makes sure everyone knows who he is by a show of power or pompous.

As I posted earlier about Al Sharpton stirring up the hornets nest of hate. This Trayvon Martin incident is another example of division in America. And it is being embraced by those on the left with that goal in mind. As you know Sal Alinsky wanted to radically divide America by whatever means possible and when a tragedy of this kind happens the left thinks of it as an opportunity, not the sad tragedy that it is.

The New Black Panthers have put a $10,000 bounty on Mr. Zimmerman, the accused killer, so they can bring their own kinda justice, ( which I assume is some kind of mob violence on the man), figuring this is what America does now. Kind of ironic don’t you think? It has not been that long ago that a number of people organized and threatened or carried out their own form of justice. They wore colors and patches just Like the Black Panthers, only the wore white hoods. Isn’t it ironic, don’t ya think?

Anywho, I checked the Black Panthers website to see what the they were saying to “their people”. I didn’t find any news or updated info. What I did find was their mission statement, and I must say they have lofty demands. I am not going to post all of the demands, just a sampling of a few. Check out the link at the end of the post and you can read the whole thing.

2. WE WANT FULL EMPLOYMENT FOR OUR PEOPLE. We believe that the federal government is responsible and obligated to give every person employment or a guaranteed income.

Oh, that would work out nice now would it not. All of our government jobs held by a certain group with a socialist agenda……oh, wait,….damn.

3. WE WANT AN END TO THE ROBBERY BY THE CAPITALISTS OF OUR BLACK AND OPPRESSED COMMUNITIES. We believe that this racist government has robbed us and now we are demanding the overdue debt of forty acres and two mules. Forty acres and two mules were promised 100 years ago as restitution for slave labor and mass murder of Black people. We will accept the payment in currency.

I know where we can send them for their forty acres, starts with an Afgan and ends with stan. They will have to fight for the mules.

5. WE WANT DECENT EDUCATION FOR OUR PEOPLE THAT EXPOSES THE TRUE NATURE OF THIS DECADENT AMERICAN SOCIETY. WE WANT EDUCATION THAT TEACHES US OUR TRUE HISTORY.

Thought they already have that. Any African American that I know of have more opportunities than most for a higher education.

6. WE WANT COMPLETELY FREE HEALTH CARE FOR All BLACK AND OPPRESSED PEOPLE. We believe that the government must provide, free of charge, for the people, health facilities which will not only treat our illnesses, most of which have come about as a result of our oppression.

Obambam is working on that for ya.

9. WE WANT FREEDOM FOR ALL BLACK AND OPPRESSED PEOPLE NOW HELD IN U. S. FEDERAL, STATE, COUNTY, CITY AND MILITARY PRISONS AND JAILS.

10. WE WANT LAND, BREAD, HOUSING, EDUCATION, CLOTHING, JUSTICE, PEACE AND PEOPLE’S COMMUNITY CONTROL OF MODERN TECHNOLOGY.
