Just Another Brick In The Wall

Just Another Brick In The Wall

My apologies to Roger Waters for stealing his verse, even though he’s a raving liberal from England who should shut his pie hole about American politics, but I digress.

The lie about the border wall is that we have 700 miles already built, well OK, but it’s the type of fencing that’s misleading about the claim.  There are altogether about 650 miles of fencing along the southern border: 352 miles of primary fencing, 36 miles of secondary fencing and 299 miles of vehicle barrier fencing.

  1. Primary or pedestrian fencing. (pictured below) This type of fencing is considered “front-line” fencing and it focuses on preventing individuals on foot from crossing the border. Several different styles of primary or pedestrian fencing line the border, including wire-mesh, bollard and landing mat. There are 352.8 miles of primary or pedestrian fencing.
  2. Secondary fencing. (pictured below) This is a second layer of fencing that sits behind a layer of primary or pedestrian fencing. There are 36 miles of secondary fencing located in various regions of Arizona, Texas and California.
  3. Vehicle barrier fencing.  (pictured below) This type of fencing focuses on preventing vehicle crossings. According to Ron Johnson’s report, “vehicle barrier fence consists of barriers used primarily in remote areas to prohibit vehicles engaged in drug trafficking and human smuggling operations to cross the border. These fences can be easily navigated by those on foot. There are 299.8 miles of vehicle barrier fencing.

There are 2000 miles along the border with Mexico, congress approved 50 billion for fence construction in 2006, of which 2.3 billion has been spent. Obama’s Homeland Security shut down any further appropriations in 2010.

If I have this correct, only 388 miles of “effective” barrier has been erected, this excludes the vehicle barrier fencing which does nothing to stop foot traffic.

The remaining 1350 miles of border security?  How does that $1.3 billion sound now?

Saving For A Rainy Day…..Lessons of the Past

Saving For A Rainy Day…..Lessons of the Past

Maybe I’m just a callous and heartless bastard, but I don’ understand how a federal employee that makes on average twice what the private sector makes for the same job, can lose everything after missing two checks.

Moses is an engineering technician for air traffic control at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. He’s furloughed and at the worst possible time. That’s because he is in the process of selling a house and buying a new one in Athens.

“I mean, we’re cutting back every which way trying to make the two ends meet,” Moses said. “I’m picking up odd jobs here in town just trying to put food on the table.”

Moses is one of as many of 16,000 federal workers in Georgia who are making emergency plans because of the partial government shutdown.

“We stand the risk of losing this new home very soon if I’m not able to produce income,” Moses said.

An engineering tech? You would think that pays pretty well, probably has killer government benefits, and is going to be paid back retroactively after the shutdown.

For another local federal worker, the longer the government shutdown continues, the more panic sets in.

Indya Thomas works for the IRS and said her last paycheck showed no income.

“I didn’t want to be put out on the streets, you know, if it had to come to that point, so I knew I needed help,” Thomas told Channel 2 Action News.  here….

Wouldn’t you have some savings for a rainy day, or make arrangements with your lender or landlord knowing this is all temporary?

Maybe….just maybe…..we’ve learned more about federal employees than they really wanted us to know, or maybe the media is in full spin mode cherry picking stories that fit the narrative….Orange Man Bad, starving families!

Bigger Fish To Fry

Tell Pelosi to pound sand.

I don’t know why POTUS gives her oxygen, Venezuela is looking like a coup is underway, China negotiations are ongoing, North Korea talks are ongoing, American soldiers are still dying in middle east shit hole countries, and we are being invaded by illiterate future democratic voters.

Tell Nan to fuck off….there are larger issues on the Presidents plate than trading spit balls with the old bat.

Declare a national emergency on the border, shut the ports of entry down until Mexico turns the caravans around, stop any and all foreign aide to countries whose citizens are in the caravans.

Then go back to work on the other issues, ignore Nancy, send her the state of the union on a napkin.
