A great article and video at CTH explains it’s not the lack of hours the longshoremen could put in but it’s the ridiculous emissions controls CA has put on trucks. They have eliminated over 50% of semis that can move this freight off the docks because of emission controls. So off loading and piling up 1,000s more containers that can’t be put on the road is pointless.
But way to go Joe “the buck stops here” Biden to blame anyone but you and fucking government that knows best.

It’s worth noting that despite the nightmare of LA/Long Beach’s port congestion, nearby Oakland has spare capacity.
The ports of New York/NJ, where I work running bunkers, is pretty efficient at the moment. The fact that the mob is more openly involved in management is not lost on me.
