Political Convenience – Updated

UPDATE: Apparently this is not in the rule book, I’ll leave it up for someone to confirm who may know better than myself. It was a late night post and I was still pissed off about the days events, I took a shot and was wrong, sorry for the confusion.

  1. One of the major signs of an organization in decline is when it doesn’t follow it’s own rules.

Thanks for finding this. Puts a whole new light on that arse commissioner jerk.

  2. Better check on that.

NFL rule book never mentions the anthem for any reason. Unofficially the league says that players are encouraged to stand during the playing of the anthem, but not required.

  3. I might advise all of us to contact our state and local representatives, and say we will hold them responsible for any further public funds spent upon stadiums for these real-estate welfare queens.

  4. bocopro is right. It’s no longer in the rule book per 2017 rule book. It was before and they probably changed it for CK and his BLM buddies

  5. Bad news kids, NFL fans in my neck of the woods are unfazed/uncaring about this whole spectacle. It’s football weekend as usual, they simple don’t give a shit what is happening…..they’re also the same people that like to call themselves “conservatives”. NFL is as well rooted in Murika as is the MSM.

  6. There is an NFL ‘how to play the game’ rule book…

And there is an NFL ‘Business rule’ book.

A62~63 is in the business rule book and demands exactly what is spelled out above…

  7. Ahah! Good to know, morons. (You sure you spelled that right?)

So, it appears the NFL has a rule book governing play and uniforms which does NOT address the anthem, but it has a manual addressing policy which DOES say almost exactly what the posted excerpt (p 62-3) says.

“Policy,” then, is not as binding as a “rule,” I take it.

The last NFL game I watched had Joe Montana as QB.
The last NBA game I watched had Larry Bird and Magic Johnson
The last MLB game I watched had Dale Murphy in CF.

I can live without pro sports; so can the rest of Murka.

BTW, you wanna see some real old-time basketball, watch some normal-sized Filipinos play the game. And college football, already more entertaining than the pros, would be even better if guys didn’t quit two years before their eligibility runs out so they can wallow in the megabuck signing bonuses.

Baseball has always been boring, but good college programs still manage to put some life in it from time to time.

  8. I’ve always been weird, but I find the CFL and rugby much more enjoyable. Especially any rugby game with New Zealanders playing, it’s like a fast moving brawl with rules.
